Toast and spreads
Preparation time: 4 minutes
Low-cost and tasty for breakfast or an after-school snack. Easy for older children to prepare themselves. All for less than 50-cents per person each day!
Cooking directions
Toast bread and top with your favourite toppings.
Some of our favourite healthy toppings:
- marmite or vegemite
- peanut butter
- hummus
- low-fat cottage cheese
- sliced banana
Tip:
- Often spreads such as margarine or butter aren't needed. If you do want to use a spread, use a little, not a lot.
- Try using low-fat spreads or margarine rather than butter.
- Look for peanut butter with no added salt or sugar
